    Celebrities Talk Kevin!

    Russell Crowe:
"Kevin’s got a brilliant mind, he's so fast on his feet. He knows how to tag a scene, and he's got incredible instincts. So just from a film fan point of view, just to be watching him while he was working was great. He's very definitely one of a kind. He has this innate understanding of comedy and as a man he's a very deep thinker, and I think that's reflected in the character.".

    Samuel L Jackson :
" It's a joy to step into an acting situation with an actor you respect and admire and who understands the process as well as you think you do. At the end of the day, you leave feeling energized by the experience, rather than drained from working with an actor who's less good."

    Kate Bosworth:
"I feel 100% comfortable with Kevin. He knows what he’s doing. He’s quality, and probably the smartest person I’ve ever met." "He knows how to pinpoint every little emotion in someone he's directing, and it's really fulfilling."

    Annette Bening:
"Kevin's an extremely entertaining person. Tons of impressions, and stories. I laughed a lot with him. He's a real pro; he's ready on time; there's no ego. He just does it."."

Unusual suspects - Kevin Spacey and the Old Vic

    Featured in: The Stage

    Published: Mon 22 May 2006

    By: Alistair Smith

Kevin Spacey tells how he is answering his critics with what he insists is a risky new season at the Old Vic, writes Alistair Smith

If Kevin Spacey is feeling under pressure, he is doing a very good job of hiding the fact. Over the last month or so, he and his regime at the Old Vic Theatre have received the kind of press mauling usually reserved for politicians. Critics savaged the undeniable flop that was Resurrection Blues and then, after its premature removal from the Waterloo venue’s stage, it was revealed that there was nothing planned to take its place until September. The Old Vic’s famous auditorium was dark and the critics were baying for blood. Spacey’s blood.

Yet, when I meet him the day after he has announced his new season, Spacey is the picture of relaxation. As I am ushered into his office, he is poised, feet crossed and resting on his desk, cigarette in hand, a disarming smile spread across his distinctive features.

One thing he is not trying to disguise, however, is his obvious frustration at some of the criticism and “inaccurate reporting” that has been levelled at both him and his beloved theatre.

“I think to some degree part of the criticism we have come under is that I don’t think people have an idea of what our artistic ambitions are,” he explains, perhaps optimistically. “Sometimes I don’t think people realise what it takes to organise a schedule - it’s not easy.”

A Twist of Lemmon: A Tribute to My Father

    Author: Chris Lemmon

    Published Date : Saturday May 20th 2006

    Forward by: Kevin Spacey

    A Tribute

Jack Lemmon was arguably one of the most famous film stars of the second half of the twentieth century. In dozens of memorable films, he created characters that millions of moviegoers cheered for and related to, and in the process became a kind of American "everyman." The human qualities he demonstrated on-screen--with all their complexity and conflict--were part of his persona in real life as well.

Chris Lemmon's parents divorced when he was very young. Growing up, he knew his father primarily as someone who would visit his home to play with him and who later took him on yearly fishing trips to Alaska. As Chris matured, the bond between them deepened; they shared first their mutual love of music and then their passion for golf.

When Jack Lemmon died in 2001, the world lost one of its favorite actors, but Chris Lemmon lost the man he had idolized above all others. In this tribute to his father--as he knew him and loved him--he shares the memories that he treasures most.

    A Moon For the Misbegotten

This powerhouse of a play reunites director Howard Davies with two actors with whom he’s previously collaborated on award-winning productions of O'Neill classics: Kevin Spacey in The Iceman Cometh (Almeida, Old Vic and Broadway) and Eve Best in Mourning Becomes Electra (National Theatre).

"I don't spend much time thinking about what people know or think they know or speculate on. I know what I participate in, what I've said, and what I haven't said. There's a lot you don't have control over, so you just try the best you can to stay under the radar. I focus on my work and the things I care deeply about."
